COVINGTON — Lucy Evelyn Nixon, 86, 1201 Second St., Covington, died at 3:27 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2000 in Provena USMC Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. She was born Dec. 14, 1913 in Independence, the daughter of Raymond V. Davis and Blanche Leona Buck. She married Louis (Ted) Nixon Sept. 22, 1934 in Covington, who survives. She was a resident of Covington since 1934. She formerly lived in Greenhill and Otterbein. She did babysitting and cleaned homes and offices for many years. Survivors, besides the husband, include: a foster child, Dorothy Schechter, Covington; two brothers, Grant K. (Ileta) Davis, Otterbein and Ronald (Charlene) Davis, Decatur; a sister, Ethel Ruth (Arnet) Wolverton, Otterbein; two foster grandchildren, Scott (Brook) Schechter, San Diego, Calif. and Mark Schechter, Honolulu, Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington, with Pastor Paul Kent. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. – jlr
